Aberdare is the principal town within the borough of Rhondda Cynon Taff and situated approx 20 miles form the north of Cardiff and 8 miles north of Pontypridd. 6 miles from the A465 Heads of the Valleys road, linking Abergavenny in the east and Neath in the west. Aberdare is accessed via the A470 north/south trunk road from Cardiff to the Abercynon interchange and from there via the A4059 Abercynon to Aberdare/Hirwaun Road, which eventually links with the Heads of the Valleys road some 6 miles further north.
